DLSU’s 9th Lasallian Scholarum Awards

De la Salle University held its 9^th Lasallian Scholarum Awards last August 29, 2012, In line of its advocacy to promote the country’s youth and education sectors. Atom Araullo hosted the awards event.

The event was welcomed by an opening statement from Br. Ricardo Laguda FSC and Br. Michael Broughton FSC with his invocation.

La Salle Dance Company- Street and De la Salle University Chorale performed at the said event. I was really stunned at their performances especially the chorale, they had impressive voices.

This year’s theme, “Re – vision” aspire to generate awareness on their critical needs and concerns and encourages proactive initiatives toward the development of the country’s educational system.

“Outstanding Published Feature Article on Youth and Education in a Nationally-circulated Publication” – Rachel C. Barawid from Manila Bulletin (We are heroes that we need)

“Outstanding Published Column Article on Youth and Education” – Raul C. Pangalangan from the Philippine Daily Inquirer (Schools as Facebook Patrol)

“Outstanding Published Feature Article on Youth and Education in a School organ” – Lora Marie S. Lumba from St. Scholasticas’s College (Fan fiction: the stepping stone for young writers)

Grand prize; “Outstanding Feature Story on De la Salle University – Angel Bombarda from the Sunday Times magazine (De la Salle University 100 years on the ‘green’ side)

The winners received cash prizes and a glass sculpture especially designed and crafted by renowned glass sculptor, Ramon Orlina.

Br. Ricardo Laguda FSC (President and chancellor of DLSU) announced the new category for next year Lasallian Scholarum Awards and that is the “Outstanding Feature Blogs on Youth and Education”.
