GlenMark Philippines Inc, provides basic first-aid know how for families

Do you know that most families today, particularly parents, remain clueless on what to do when an unexpected medical situation strikes that can affect their kid or kids? Perhaps due to lack of enough training from their own parents, misinformation, or simply absence of awareness.

Thanks to GlenMark Philippines, they held a training session to help most parents become equipped with adequate knowledge on first aid for kids. The objective is to provide training on what to do and how to react and apply first-aid treatments for various medical issues that may involve their kids.

First Aid plays a fundamental role in saving a person's life. It is after all the very first application of care given to someone in an accident or experiencing a medical emergency.

  • Emergency contact numbers - copy of all emergency contact nos. (emergency services, fire department, police, family members etc.)
  • Quality Band Aids - have a bunch of then in different shapes and sizes.
  • Basic Medication & Ointments / Creams - For pain relief, allergies, insect bites, antibacterial treatment etc.
  • Sharp Scissors
  • Gauze & medical tape
  • Tweezers
  • Thermometer
  • cotton buds
  • wetwipes / alcohol
Keep one at home, a smaller more compact version in your car and your child's bag.

Focal points of the training session involve the safety of kids when at home, during travels or even when staying home in the company of the househelp or with the parents themselves. Foskina, a product, a product of GlenMark Philippines Inc. through its online platform firstaidforkids.ph, will help equip parents or every household with ample familiarity and understanding on how to manage or handle first aid correctly.

Dr. Daniel Luchangco (Early Intervention Management) conducts the training for choking emergency.

This involve training on how to respond to scenarios such as cuts and wounds, various bites and stings, applying correct Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) techniques for infants and toddlers, burns and scalds, choking, and even fever and febrile convulsions.

To carry out CPR a person presses up and down on the casualty's chest (chest compression) and gives them a series of rescue breaths to help save their life when they are in cardiac arrest.

Most of the time, it is the adults who perform CPR in times of emergency. However, Mommy Fix-it believes that we can teach our kids the concept behind CPR as early as now, in order for them to realize its importance early on.

Firstaidkids.ph is the online wound care advocacy site of GlenMark Philippines Inc. targeting parents and even househelps. Just recently, GlenMark through firstaidkids.ph in cooperation with projectmommyger.net conducted a training session called :Yaya Does Montessori" for the"yaya" to train them on how to handle wound care apply basic first-aid treatment for kids.
